This legendary climb will take you through ancient forests, across breathtaking alpine landscapes, and up to the very throne of Zeus himself.

 

Your Adventure Itinerary

 

• Meeting in Litochoro: We gather at the parking area, greet each other, and provide you with all the essential mountaineering equipment for a safe and enjoyable ascent.

• Drive to Gortsia: Our adventure begins with a scenic transfer to our trailhead.

• Hike to Petrostrouga Refuge: Trek through cool, shaded forests of beech, oak, and black pine, reaching the refuge at 1,950 meters for a well-deserved rest and meal.

• Climb to the Plateau of the Muses: Continue your journey to the Giosos Apostolidis refuge, your cozy base for the night, surrounded by majestic alpine views. From here, you’ll gaze upon the awe-inspiring Throne of Zeus (Stefani).

• Summit Day: Depart early for the final push to Mytikas, the roof of Greece. The panoramic views will stay with you forever.

• Descent via the E4 Trail: Make your way to the Spilios Agapitos refuge for rest and refreshment before continuing to Prionia, where our vehicles await to take us back.

What You’ll Need to Bring

 

• Hiking boots or trail running shoes

• Backpack (30–60L)

• Water (1–1.5 liters) and snacks you enjoy (sandwiches, fruit, energy bars, nuts)

• Layered clothing: long pants/leggings, waterproof/windproof jacket, warm sweater, quick-dry T-shirts, hat, and gloves

• Trekking poles (optional, available upon request)

• Headlamp
